After working in unity for a while on gameplay vfx I wanted to go back and make a environmental piece that can tell a story, I settled on a sci-fi atmosphere with a holo globe being the centre piece. To challenge myself I made the effect modular and made the colours and glitching of the holo globe changeable in real-time, by pressing 1 button I can have the vfx switch to a 'panic' mode the idea was 'how would I make this work with possible gameplay elements?' colour changing was the obvious answer since it works for mission success or failure and it works for it being a game where the ship comes under attack.
All VFX are by me, environment is Modular Scifi Season 2 Starter Bundle by Johnathan Frederick, holo globe stand is Paragon: Agora and Monolith Environment by Epic Games
